The Mistake I Made by Paula Daly is $1.99

Quote:
The Mistake I Made is the latest page-turner from one of the England’s most captivating new thriller writers. In her provocative and riveting third novel, Paula Daly focuses her masterful eye for psychological suspense and family drama on an indecent proposal that has fatal repercussions.

Where the Bodies Are Buried (Jasmine Sharp and Catherine McLeod #1) by Christopher Brookmyre is $1.99

Quote:
When a neighborhood heroin dealer turns up dead one fine morning in Scotland, no one is too surprised. Sleeping with a major drug trafficker’s girlfriend can bring around plenty of enemies. It’s no wonder that Detective Superintendent Catherine McLeod has plenty of early leads.

Dreaming Spies is the 13th in the really enjoyable IMO Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series by Laurie R. King. Per SYKM, this won the 2015 Agatha Award for Best Historical Novel, and was nominated for a couple of other awards as well. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Quote:
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • WINNER OF THE AGATHA AWARD FOR BEST HISTORICAL NOVEL • NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST MYSTERIES OF THE YEAR BY THE SEATTLE TIMES

Laurie R. King’s novels of suspense featuring Mary Russell and her husband, Sherlock Holmes, are critically acclaimed and beloved by readers for the author’s adept interplay of history and adventure. Now the intrepid duo is finally trying to take a little time for themselves—only to be swept up in a baffling case that will lead them from the idyllic panoramas of Japan to the depths of Oxford’s most revered institution.

After a lengthy case that had the couple traipsing all over India, Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes are on their way to California to deal with some family business that Russell has been neglecting for far too long. Along the way, they plan to break up the long voyage with a sojourn in southern Japan. The cruising steamer Thomas Carlyle is leaving Bombay, bound for Kobe. Though they’re not the vacationing types, Russell is looking forward to a change of focus—not to mention a chance to travel to a location Holmes has not visited before. The idea of the pair being on equal footing is enticing to a woman who often must race to catch up with her older, highly skilled husband.

Aboard the ship, intrigue stirs almost immediately. Holmes recognizes the famous clubman the Earl of Darley, whom he suspects of being an occasional blackmailer: not an unlikely career choice for a man richer in social connections than in pounds sterling. And then there’s the lithe, surprisingly fluent young Japanese woman who befriends Russell and quotes haiku. She agrees to tutor the couple in Japanese language and customs, but Russell can’t shake the feeling that Haruki Sato is not who she claims to be.

Once in Japan, Russell’s suspicions are confirmed in a most surprising way. From the glorious city of Tokyo to the cavernous library at Oxford, Russell and Holmes race to solve a mystery involving international extortion, espionage, and the shocking secrets that, if revealed, could spark revolution—and topple an empire.

As the Crow Flies is the 8th in the Longmire series by Craig Johnson. Per SYKM, this won the 2013 Left Coast Crime Rocky Award, and per a little blurp on the pictured cover, there is a Netflix original series, Longmire, based on these books. Crow has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

“It’s the scenery—and the big guy standing in front of the scenery—that keeps us coming back to Craig Johnson’s lean and leathery mysteries.”
The New York Times Book Review

The eighth Longmire novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Land of Wolves

Embarking on his eighth adventure, Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire doesn't have time for cowboys and criminals. His daughter, Cady, is getting married in two weeks, and the wedding locale arrangements have just gone up in smoke signals. Fearing Cady's wrath, Walt and his old friend Henry Standing Bear set out for the Cheyenne Reservation to find a new site for the nuptials. But their expedition ends in horror as they witness a young Crow woman plummeting from Painted Warrior's majestic cliffs. Is it a suicide, or something more sinister? It's not Walt's turf, but he's coerced into the investigation by Lolo Long, the beautiful new tribal police chief.

Homicide Trinity is the 36th (per the blurb - the count may vary a little bit depending on which collections you include or omit, and who's doing the counting) in the Archie Goodwin/Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout. Stout was either the second or third mystery author I started reading after Agatha Christie, and I remember devouring all of the Goodwin/Wolfe books that I could find, either in the used book store or the library.

In any case, Trinity has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Stout's books don't go on sale very often in the US, so grab it while you can!

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TSEKG0
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/homicide-trinity

Spoiler:
Quote:
It’s a wily killer who dares to strike on Nero Wolfe’s hallowed turf—and leave a corpse strangled with Wolfe’s own soup-stained tie. But no sooner does the gourmandizing sleuth clean up this first course of murder than he faces a gun-toting wife who serves up a confession of homicidal intent—only to become the sole suspect when the corpus delicti is found. It’s murder à la carte when the third course is served: a cop-hating landlady brings Wolfe counterfeit cash—that leads to genuine murder. It’s up to Wolfe to see that the malefactors get their just deserts.

Introduction by Stephen Greenleaf

“It is always a treat to read a Nero Wolfe mystery. The man has entered our folklore.”—The New York Times Book Review

A grand master of the form, Rex Stout is one of America’s greatest mystery writers, and his literary creation Nero Wolfe is one of the greatest fictional detectives of all time. Together, Stout and Wolfe have entertained—and puzzled—millions of mystery fans around the world. Now, with his perambulatory man-about-town, Archie Goodwin, the arrogant, gourmandizing, sedentary sleuth is back in the original seventy-three cases of crime and detection written by the inimitable master himself, Rex Stout.
