E-Ink In Watches Now
I got a friend request today on my YT channel from someone that has a channel where they show watches they're selling. I generally ignore friend requests from vendors and people who don't really appear interested in what I do and just want to rank up as many friends and subscribers as possible, but I at least wanted to check out their channel.
Turns out that the watches they sell actually use E-Ink for the display. Maybe someone has done it before, but this is the first I've heard of it. |

Seiko has a nice example as well.
http://www.seikowatches.com/press/20...ls1003-06.html Japan only release for the moment and just a little more expensive than the Phosphor models. Last edited by TedJ; 07-04-2011 at 05:56 PM. Reason: Added link to Seiya Japan. |

Here's another prototype
from http://laboratoire-cru.com/7134/1282...horodron-hd-01 Ideally it would come with an 'MGS' system from Ventura watches - a system to produce electrical power for quartz watches (equivalent to an auto winding analogue watch). I've wondered if Sony licensed the technology from Ventura whether it would be enough to do away with any need to 'plug in' for power for their e-readers - maybe with 2 of the rotors... Cool! Now you can genuinely take e-reading as a true pastime.

That was my last phone before I got a Droid. Between the double flip, and the fancy keyboard, I thought it was a pretty cool phone, although I always wished it was a small as the first Alias. I never knew why it needed to be bigger.

Those are some cool looking watches. Not sure how watch sales are now with the popularity of cell phones, but I wanted to get one as soon as I saw it.

On a plane, when they say: turn off all electronic devices, do these have to be turned off as well?

I've had watches that appeared similar to these, just LCD based, for 20 some odd years. The style isn't anything new. In the higher end watch industry (and the lower end portion that mimics it), avant garde is the norm. And to answer your question, like most watches, they cannot be turned off.
