903 Questions re charging the pocketbook 903/912

Hi

I've searched through the forum but couldn't find the answer to my question - apologies if I missed out on any threads and am duplicating queries.

I just got my new pocketbook pro 912 yesterday. I used it for a couple of hours - everything was working fine. Then realised I was supposed to charge it for 8-12 hours. So I plugged it into a wall charger.

The orange LED light started blinking. It has been charging for 18 hours since then. The orange light is still blinking. According to the manual - that means it is still charging. But it has been 18 hours already - is it normal for the first charge to take so long? Do I have to wait for the orange light to stop blinking before I stop charging? Anyone has any idea how much longer it is going to take?

Did you see the light after 3-5 hours charging? When I charge my PB903 and the battery is charged, the light stops blinking but if I leave it charging, then after some 15 minutes the lights starts blinking again. I think the device has some protection that the battery won't be overcharged and therefore it will decharge/recharge itself when it's still charging with a full battery. So I think you missed the full charge status (LED not blinking) window. My advice is to disconnect the device and you'll see it's fully charged.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

No you are right, i left it there and went about other stuff. I did go and check on it once in a while, but everytime i checked - the orange led would be blinking.

The battery indicator does show that it is fully charged now that I have removed the reader from the charger. So I guess the light may have stopped blinking at some point and I didn't realise it.

I think this is a documented bug in some older versions of the firmware. I would advise to update with the latest firmware (see https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119973 ) and see if the problem persists.

In any case, an up-to-date firmware normally greatly increases the responsiveness of the device.

I updated the firmware to the latest version 2.1.2 the day after I got it. It was still flashing amber when I plugged it into the wall charger after the update.

Will have to wait till the battery level goes down and see what happens, I guess.
