Deleting book from sig
Last week I deleted the cover pic of one book and added another. But now I have a red x in that spot. Anyone know how I can get rid of that?

Really? That's odd. It must just be my computer. Thanks for letting me know.

Try refreshing a page with one of your posts, it might solve the problem.

In Safari on OSX Mac I see a little blue square with a ?mark just after Where Dreams are Born. No red X.
In Firefox on OSX Mac that same sig in same post has no little blue square and no red X. It seems to depend on browser. To get rid of whatever it is, I'd delete the sig and build a new one just using the desired covers. |

Ah yes, I see it now that I'm on Safari! To remove it, you should probably edit your sig and remove the part of it that contains a link to the image you deleted.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Appreciate it. I will get on it this afternoon and see if anything works.

Well, guys, I tried to delete it but when I clicked to preview my sig, everything was still there, the pics and the links.
So I went to the box that said delete signature picture and clicked on it. I went to preview, and it said I can't delete a pic while it's in use. So now I'm stumped. |

Go To User Control Panel
Go to "Edit Signature" In the text of your signature, delete the text Code:
<img src="https://www.mobileread.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=437&pictureid=3200" border="0" alt="" /> That should do it. |

Or, to start from scratch (I think, not sure about all the images getting deleted this way), save out the text under the cover images to a temporary text file. Click anywhere once in the edit sig box where you enter text. Keyboard Command A (Control A on Windows?) to select everything. Hit delete key. Preview Sig. If that doesn't also remove the images (more globally than removing just one as in pdurrant's post), I don't know what will. Save Sig. Start over, using just the images you want to be there, and paste back in your text underneath.

Okay, tried that. Pics were still there in preview. Then I just deleted them and saved. So let's see if they still show up now.

Well, I can delete them completely, but I don't want to do that. So I pasted the text back in and they're back the way they were with the red x.
So, thanks for trying to help anyway. Joyce |

Can you delete your entire signature and then add the pictures back in one at a time? Maybe it would be easier to figure out what is making that x.

The code for the above; I put a space in the [/IMG] tags to make the code show -- the code tag didn't work for me. You will have to change all of the [/IMG ] tags back to [/IMG] if you want to copy it and see if it works for you too.
