Two questions:
Can you read in full sun? Is Apple going to sue someone over this? |

LOL! I remember back in the early 1980's, in grade-school, my math teacher gave a test and said "no electronic calculators" - so I brought a slide-rule! The teacher actually let me use it, too (her words, IIRC, were "I haven't seen one of THOSE in years!". I got extra credit for it, too!)

my husband, a computer geek, has (somehere) a shadow box with a 6" slide rule in it, and the legend "in case of power failure, break glass".
We also made him a St. Vidicom of Cathode rosary with a yellow-handled screwdriver on it in place of the cross, for the same Christmas gift. |

Back when the 1st atom bombs were built a slide rule was all they had for their calculations I believe. There is a round one for working out some math I think though I don't know where to find a picture of it.
Edit: found one through wikipedia Round slide rule |

Before I rush out and buy one, I need to know if the books contain DRM.

Seriously, I did do a Google search to see if any antique dealers were selling a Fiske Reading Machine. If I could find one that was reasonably priced, I'd consider it. It looks like the sort of device my grandfather might have owned. He had a few oddball things around the house.
