Book Details vs. Link to show book details in popup Window
Calibre Version 7.7

Hello,

when I use the function "Link to show book details in a popup window" the window is different from the window "book details". The data in the window are the sam, but if I use the Link function then all links are gray and not working (only text).

If you want a Book Details popup for a book in the current library use one of the Book Details actions, viz:

n.b. those are custom shortcuts.

calibre:\\ URLs require a library name, show-details, view-book etc don't switch to the library (i.e. another SQLite database) so they can't provide linked values.

I've used Copy | Link to show book details in popup window. And I've pasted the copied url in the field Link of a tag (both are in the same library).

The Book details popup displayed via a calibre:\\book-details\ URL will not have clickable fields irrespective of where the link is pasted… e.g. in a Word document, in another or the same calibre library, or a web page etc.

I believe this was a deliberate design decision, as was the decision to make it a child window of the main window of the referenced library Ψ³

Added: If you want any of that changed you'll have to convince the developers, either here or at Bugs : calibre.
