Problems Editing Metadata
I have a MOBI ebook. All I wanted to do was change the title of the book the way it displays in Kindle. The title is too long and not uniform. When I convert the book to MOBI the format is messed up for some reason. Since it was already in MOBI I thought all I need to do is change the Title fields, but that did not work.
I uploaded a find that shows what Title should look like. But it doesn't. It should be 04 April 2014 KM but it says Kingdom Ministry, April 2014. I did not know I could attach the book. I just thought, I wonder if I can put an ebook in the attachments. So now I've attached it. Last edited by maurices5000; 04-09-2014 at 09:22 PM. |

@maurices5000 : The Title you have entered into calibre, has gone into its database.
To get the new metadata into the MOBI file itself, you need to either Save the MOBI to disk, Send the MOBI to a device, or Convert the MOBI to MOBI (or some other format) BR |

thanks! can you explain what you mean when you say save Mobi to Disk? What does that do?
When I convert Mobi to Mobi, the formatting of the book is destroyed. I would like to presume the formatting as much as possible. I did find this link. Is this what you were talking about? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...save+mobi+disk Thanks! Last edited by maurices5000; 04-09-2014 at 11:35 PM. |

@maurices5000 - I was thinking of calibres built-in Save to Disk feature - if its not in your tool bar or context (right click) menu then you can put it there - see attachment
Or just select a book and press the 's' key. You'll get select folder dialogue, navigate to desktop, create a folder named say 'test' and press OK - the mobi should be saved in test folder with current metadata. Hopefully the formatting will be intact, I don't dabble in MOBI too much so don't hold me to that. Oh, and make sure that the Update metadata in saved copies setting in Preferences->Saving books to disk is checked BR Last edited by BetterRed; 04-10-2014 at 12:08 AM. Reason: forgot attachment |
