Edit: Never mind. I think it was a one deal only, since all the prices I find at BN is 7.99. ( With Amazon's whispernet fees, it is a bit... tricky to see if it is on sale, or just slightly discounted)

But Vengenance by Ian Irvine is 2.99 at BN, and presumably also at Amazon.

I checked couple and these do not appear to be on sale in the UK.

When a book is free at BAEN, please don't just give a link to Amazon. Also give the BAEN link as well.

How is BAEN getting their eBooks onto Amazon given that BAEN uses Calibre? Are they taking the Calibre made ePub and using it with Kindlegen?

Yes, epub is the preferred input format for Kindlegen.

The Way of Kings, first volume in a recent doorstop fantasy series by Brandon Sanderson is on sale at Amazon for $2.99.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Kings-Stor.../dp/B003P2WO5E
*not currently showing as on sale in UK*

From Publishers Weekly
This massive tome is the first of a 10-part epic fantasy series from relative newcomer Sanderson (Mistborn), best known for his efforts to complete the late Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. In a storm-swept world where history has dwindled into myth, self-serving aristocrats squabble over mystical weapons that render their bearers immune to mundane attacks. The ambitious scholar Shallan learns unexpected truths about the present, the virtuous aristocrat Dalinar reclaims the lost past, and the bitter and broken slave Kaladin gains unwanted power. Race-related plot themes may raise some eyebrows, and there's no hope for anything resembling a conclusion in this introductory volume, but Sanderson's fondness for misleading the reader and his talent for feeding out revelations and action scenes at just the right pace will keep epic fantasy fans intrigued and hoping for redemptive future installments.

Thanks. I've heard good things about this one and might just grab it.

Looks like another long series (10 books if/when done).

Per the publisher's announcement, The Way of Kings will be on sale in the "U.S and Canada, and many other nations," but they don't specify. It is also on Apple in the US, though.

A review of the Kindle book from 2011 complains of many typos; I did notice one while skimming through the excerpt, and I wasn't reading at all closely, so there could be more.

The special price seems to apply in US, Canada and South Africa, but not UK, Australia or New Zealand.

Grabbed Way of Kings (saw it on another forum this morning). I like Sanderson, and it's DRM-free. If nothing else I'm giving him and his publisher a tip for my reads of the Mistborn series and Elantris which I really enjoyed

I bought this back in 2007 when it was published by Baen as part of the June 2007 webscription.

It's an excellent SF story, and an absolute bargain at $0.99.
Thank you for pointing this out! I picked it up, finished the book I was reading, and thought I'd read the first few paragraphs to see what it's like. It immediately leap frogged to the top of my list and I'm going to be up late tonight.
