Prevent ASCII Aliteration in Calibre export on OS X
Hey,
I've noticed that all the books that I've added to the Calibre Library get their charset shrunk down to Ascii, including Cyrillic, and worse yet, Mandarin. I know for a fact that APFS (and a lot of other File Systems) accept UTF-8 encoded names, and Python works with whatever the operating system provides, so is there a way of preventing Calibre from alliterating the names of books/authors etc. |

The names used in the library for author and book directories are normalised to ASCII and if necessary shortened, see the Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library? sticky at the top of the this sub forum.

Your post's Title is "Prevent ASCII Aliteration in Calibre export on OS X". My answer was for the title. If your post's title was not the real question, then you should change it. Exporting books is entirely different than importing them. Different rules apply.
