starting a ol with a number > 1

Hi,
is there a way to start a ol with a number > 1 in ePub2?

We can not use the

Code:

value

or

Code:

start

attribute because they are not allowed in XHTML1.1
But we can not use the CSS

Code:

counter

, because ADE do not support the ::after and ::before.

In past I remember I use a trick, putting an "display:none" to all the

Code:

li

before the

Code:

li

I want to start with, but I was wondering if there is a cleaner way to do this...

The only way is to actually type the numbers. Or, but that could be ugly, is to create all the list items before that number and to set display: none for those.

Simply create an epub3 book and use the start attribute.
