how to stop the "get list of books on deivce job"

I'm wondering how to stop calibre from attempting to 'get the list of books on device'. Every time I attach my kindle fire HD this job starts but never gets past 12%. It seems to crash Calibre or not let me remove device. Nor can I stop the job because one 'cannot kill jobs that communicate with the device'

Thanks!

There's a better solution then stopping Calibre from reading what's on your KFHD. The solution is to find what defective eBook you have on it and delete it.

Start by removing them all and putting them back on in small bunches. Each time plug it in to Calibre and wait until you find it fails. When that happens, put each book back on one at a time until you find the defective one.

Actually, it's in the Device Interface Plugins.

Options > Plugins > Device Interface Plugins > Kindle Fire Device Interface
