Question about how the sync works
I found it disconcerting that it works with my phone disconnected from my home wireless and with my Kindle on my home wi-fi.

Assuming we're talking about KOSync here, it's a push/pull model, with the data centralized on the server, not on individual devices, so the state of devices other than the one currently doing a pull is irrelevant.

I guess my question is where/what is that server you are talking about?

You can run your own. There're a few different implementations. Most of them are easy to deploy. |
