Sony Return Issue

I've been reading this forum for a long time but this is the first time i've actually bothered to post a comment and hopefully i'm not breaking any etiquette rules by starting this thread, but when i was looking around I didn't see anything that covered this question in detail. I had originally purchased a Sony PRS-700BC with the 2 year insurance plan. I had a claim and had the device replaced first bit of advise DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR INSURANCE IT IS A RIP OFF! I just picked up my replacement today which literally took 3 and a half weeks to get to me from the date my device arrived at their service center in Texas. I'm a claims specialist for an Auto Insurer and the level of incompetence and bad customer service Sony and Service Net (the company they use) is a joke. The claim took so long to resolve because i was given the option of accepting a PRS-600 (which costs $100 less than what i paid) or waiting for them to find refurbish and ship another PRS-700 after an indefinite wait. I told them neither option was acceptable so they ignored my complaints and calls until they found another 700. I've lodges complaints with my local state department of insurance (these are considered contracts of indemnity so they have jurisdiction) and the better business bureau. However the problem is when i got home tonight after finally getting the device i found they have shipped me a PRS-700UC and not another PRS-700BC. Judging by the markings on the back it looks like this one was originally manufactured for sale in Canada. Does anyone know if i will have any issues using this device in the United States? And is there any spec differences with it? It seems like my content will work for it now that i've registered it but if there is going to be any issues using the device i plan on returning it immediately.

If it has the current firmware on it I don't see this being a problem. You've completed the registration process of this new device so your good to go.

The only thing that might be different with your new device (not based on version) is that since you recently registered it you might not be able to read lrx files anymore. Part of their new company position. If you have any lrx files bought from Sony you should be able download their epub version.

I hope this reader lasts you a couple of more years.
