The only important part for you is that your dictionary is pegged as encrypted by KindleUnpack. So it can't unpack it. It'll first have to be unencrypted.

I haven't decrypted Kindle-files before. But if I would haphazard a guess, you could try to do that using a Calibre plugin. Just search this forum for relevant threads.

Dear @Markismus, would it be easy for you to convert the attached dictionaries, as well as this, to stardict format?

Thank you in advance!

What are ld2-files? Is it Vicon's proprietary format or is a public one?

The Wordnet dictionary has been converted to stardict for ages.

EDIT:
Quote:
File used by Lingoes, a dictionary and text translation application; contains a compiled source dictionary file and includes terms and their definitions; saved in a proprietary binary format, but can be used for storing custom dictionaries.
It seems that some work has been done to extract the info from lingoes to text-file. However, this thread from Goldendict emphasizes that the problem is the encryption.

So you could try pyglossary and see whether you get lucky

I don't know what ld2 files are. Someone gave me this dictionary (along with others for the Golden Dict). I'll try to see if something is done with the pyglossary.

Dictionary conversion

"Again and again!"
If I may take advantage of your kindness once again, could you also convert these two dictionaries for KOReader?
As you may have guessed, I am a dictionary lover! :-)

Thank you in advance!

Dear Guru, After several attempts to convert I would like to kindly ask for help. The kindle dictionary Ican use as normal mobi file with search, but would be great to have "dic" version for Pocketbook... So, no DRM, but... <3 file over 50MB. Link to pCloud: https://e1.pcloud.link/publink/show?...WDGfMbRhwg5sCX

@furmirek KindleUnpack, the code used for unpacking mobi- and awz-files, generates the result: rawml-file found. Mobi-file already converted, but KindleUnpack failed to convert it to html.
Then my code gives the rawml-file a try and fails: Will try at the rawml-file, but don't get your hopes up!
Dictionary name is 'English Polish Dictionary'.
...
Converting indexentries from RAWML to XDXF. This will take some time. 20220818 11:43:38
Done at 20220818 11:43:38
Not able to handle the rawml-file. Quitting!

You could write a dedicated conversion in sub convertRAWML2XDXF{} and I would happily merge it with the code.

Looking at a snipped of rawml after adding a newline character after every tag and indenting:
Code:

<h2>
    -</h2>
<dl>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <dt>
        <b>
            symb.</b>
    </dt>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <dd>
        <blockquote>
            &bull; Used in a compound term when the constituent parts are already hyphenated.
    </dd>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <dd>
        <blockquote>
            &bull; Used to hide letters
    </dd>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
    <dd>
        <blockquote>
            &bull; Used to connect compound terms with the sense of &quot;to&quot; or to show a relationship
    </dd>
    <div height="0">
    </div>
</dl>
<p>
    <a href="http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-">
        <font size="3">
            en&sup2;
    </a>
</p>
<hr />
You can reduce it to:
Code:
<h2> ... </h2>
<dl> ...</dl>
<p> ... </p>
<hr />
Every keyword-meaning pair is separted by a <hr />-tag. So the keyword is in a <h2>-block, and the meaning is given in the <dl>-block. You could include the hyperreference to wikipedia in the <p>-block in the meaning if you want.

@furmirek I've expanded the code a bit and the conversion ran. The result is here. Could you run a test and see whether it works on your Pocketbook?

You are awesome! Just uploaded to Pocketbook and it works! I have no idea, how description of dictionary is stored in Pocketbook, so "no description" is not a key point. BTW have no idea how many words there are - 150k - 200k?

You are great programmer, thank you so much!

Thank you. If you have a description text, I could put it in the xdxf-file and see whether it survives the conversion into dic-format.

The only one dictionary with description I have is the one from 2014 for Kindle, however would be great to convert to "dic" and check for description. I put links to mobi and txt below. All description is in Polish... I have to remind my gratefulness for Your help and conversion done so quickly! Ave Guru !

I just looked at the code and in your dictionary the start of your reconstructed xdxf-file is
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<xdxf lang_from="eng" lang_to="po" format="visual">
    <full_name>English Polish Dic</full_name>
    <description>
        <date></date>
        Created with pocketbookdic.pl
    </description>
As nothing is visible in your pocketbook it means that it is stripped out by converter.exe.

Your new dictionary start with this html-code:
Code:
<html>

<head>
    <guide></guide>
</head>

<body>
    <mbp:frameset>
        <font size="5"><b>(pay) cable</b></font><br>

            <blockquote>U telewizja kablowa.</blockquote>
        </div>
        <font size="5"><b>? la carte</b></font><br>
        <div>
            <blockquote>adj, z karty</blockquote>
        </div>
        <font size="5"><b>3-D</b>
