NYTimes has no headlines

The last couple of days, the New York Times has had no headlines. Headlines appear in the table of contents and page headers, but not at the top of the story. Is anyone working on this?

Still happening intermittently. For example, this one keeps dropping the headline and I'm a bit baffled why. I can't figure out an obvious cause:

There are a couple of these each day in this special format. The current "supplemental story" logic doesn't seem necessary anymore, but try as I can I can't figure out what's nuking the headline here.

Thank you Kovid! Agree re: their markup. They must have an atrocious CMS to keep adding all those css-<random-string> tags among other things...
