The Novik Temeraire three book omnibus is also on sale at Kobo Canada, and likely at the other main Canadian e-book retailers (Amazon, Google, iBooks) as well.

A simple impulse buy for me. Love that series... owning the first three for $3.38 is a no-brainer on my part...

Although the omnibus is available in the UK, it's not on sale (at time of looking).

I read the first 3, but I stopped because of issues I had with the world history, especially after I read the short story set in the equivalent of the Roman Empire. I had no problems with the writing or the storyline, just the historical premise.

The UK VAT rules on small press ebooks have changed and it is now generally cheaper to buy indie titles direct from the publisher rather than through the usual outlets (the Big River etc).

Here's a bargain for the Tales of Einarinn by Juliet E McKenna: the omnibus of all 5 novels + the short story collection is £7.99 until the end of January. The 5 individual novels are £2.35 (also discounted). They can be found here: https://www.wizardstowerbooks.com/

Oh, I didn't know about this: UK suppliers who do not supply more than about £8,000 in digital goods to other EU members do not need to register for VAT if their turnover is under the VAT threshold, and so they do not need to charge VAT.

Thanks!

If everyone starts jumping on these small seller site to avoid VAT, it might just push them over that £8,000 limit!

Quote:
Erasmas, "Razï", is a young avout living in the Concent, a sanctuary for mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers. Three times during history's darkest epochs, violence has invaded and devastated the cloistered community. Yet the avout have always managed to adapt in the wake of catastrophe.

But they now prepare to open the Concentïs gates to the outside world, in celebration of a once-a-decade rite. Suddenly, Erasmas finds himself a major player in a drama that will determine the future of his world as he sets out on an extraordinary odyssey that will carry him to the most dangerous, inhospitable corners of the planets and beyond

They're not on offer (yet), but members of this thread might like to know that:

* Martin Scott has just published another Thraxas novel: Thraxas of Turai

* Amber Ltd has just published Seven Tales in Amber, a collection of (?unpublished?) short stories by Roger Zelazny set in his Amber universe.

I've just added them to my ereaderiq.com watch list, as I still have far too many books to read.

5 were were apparently collected in a very rare (e)book called Manna From Heaven. Paul has the text files (not sure if it's the entire book or just the Amber stories).

From wiki:

Quote:
"A Secret of Amber" (Amberzine #12–15, March 2005)
"The Salesman's Tale" (Amberzine No. 6, by Phage Press, February 1994 and Ten Tales, edited by John Dunning, 1994)
"Blue Horse, Dancing Mountains" (Wheel of Fortune, edited by Roger Zelazny, 1995)
"The Shroudling and the Guisel" (Realms of Fantasy, October 1994)
"Coming to a Cord" (Pirate Writings, Number 7, 1995)
"Hall of Mirrors" (Castle Fantastic, edited by John DeChancie and Martin Greenberg, March 1996)

The Amazon entry doesn't list the stories but this would make sense.
Presumably the 7th would be the prologue of Trumps of Doom, which was only in the first edition.

A Daily deal on Amazon (so grab it fast if interested: The Wild Girls, by Ursula K. LeGuin, for $1.99.

Quote:
Newly revised and presented here in book form for the first time, this Nebula Award-winning story tells of two captive "dirt children" in a society of sword and silk, whose determination to find a glimpse of justice leads to a violent and loving end. Also included is the nonfiction essay "Staying Awake While We Read" which demolishes the pretensions of corporate publishing and the basic assumptions of capitalism, and "Outspoken Author Interview," which reveals the hidden dimensions of America's best-known sci-fi author.

If you go into the 'look inside' for Seven Tales, you can see the ToC:

Introduction
Prologue to Trumps of Doom*
A Secret of Amber
The Salesman's Tale*
Blue Horse, Dancing Mountains*
The Shroudling and the Guisel*
Coming to a Cord*
Hall of Mirrors*

* items were in Manna from Heaven so A Secret of Amber is newly collected (it was originally published in Amberzine #12-15 in 2005).

Discounted Baen books on Amazon UK

I have noted before that Baen books are never "price set by the publisher" so Amazon can discount their ebooks just like their pbooks

So this week (looking at those published in last twelve months) SOMEONE IS TRYING IT and they are also discounting some pbooks to ebook prices

By the way - Seven Tales from Amber is cheaper on Kobo:

https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/seven-tales-in-amber £4.07 vs
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seven-Tales...les+from+amber £6.00

Not sure if this holds true in other regions.
