Cheap kindles back on ebay!
Given the unavailability of the International version, I wonder what will happen here:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-eBook-Rea...6179219?pt=AU_ It says he has sold 78 so far, but only 1 person saying they have received it - or maybe they are just excited they 'won' it and havent actually got it. There will either be tears, or some very happy campers. |

"If you don't receive in 25 working days(not including the weekend and holiday) after shipping, please contact us,we will fill a form to post office check the item status for you."
So you have to wait 5 weeks and then they'll "send" a form to look for the item so that'll be another couple of weeks and by that point they'll have cashed out their Paypal account and be laughing all the way to their real bank... |

$50.99 AUD plus free postage out of China to Australia, sounds to good to be true, I think.

The only Kindle feedback doesn't actually say they've received it. Just that its an amazing deal.
The other items the seller has sold before have all been random cheap items which generally went for around $2-3. It is easy to get lots of positive feedback for not much real $$$ by just selling things like that. Its a scam whatever technique the seller is using. $50 per brand new Kindle with shipping included from China where the seller has no history of selling electronics at all. |

So I contacted Kindle support just to let them know someone might be scamming. Hmm, the reply from them said something along the lines that "amazon cant control what others sell them for". Righteo, that helps, NOT! Think it flew right over their collective heards,

It's something for eBay to handle and not Amazon. Amazon can't go around playing the police. A more political answer from Amazon would perhaps have been for you to contact eBay and take it up with them. Sounds like a scam or they're selling cheap knock-off's.

I play by the rule, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is." And I've never been burned, but I've gotten some great (real) deals!
$99 with positive feedback from a previous history of kindle sales is believable - $51 is not. this may sound silly, but in my dealings with ebay and potential scam-filled sites (craigslist, kijiji...), anytime anyone ever answers one of my questions while referring to my as 'friend' (see bottom of ebay page) makes me instantly extremely suspicious and further correspondence usually confirms it's a scam. |

If it is a scam, then yes, it isn't amazons problem. But if they are actually selling fake kindles, or kindles that somehow didn't get to Amazon, then it is Amazons problem.

Is it mere rumour that folks have received empty boxes from some Kindle Crime scammers? Seems that if there is proof of delivery of the package, the buyer has no way to prove that the package actually contained nothing. Neil

It's just like the other one - if you look at his feedback, it's all for really cheap items.

I also came across this offer (as Amazon doesn't restock the International Kindle before Christmas it seems) but still don't believe it.
What I don't understand is: Why does he offer PayPal, can't people simply use buyer protection and get their money back if he doesn't send the item? Greets |

A friend of mine was received two empty boxes with iPhone 4 - from two different ebay sellers (UK and Singapore) at same time. I always prefer to buy more expensive but real things with proper warranties.
As for these 50$ Kindles it is UNREAL. He claims they are NEW. And look - it shows all 199 are sold. Is this number is from the eBay or seller writes it? Wow, he sold a 199 Kindles in one day! I think it is more trivial - seller will send something like an e-reader (5" TFT tablet with Windows CE very old model) instead a Kindle. It is impossible to be a real Kindle 3. As for a PayPal protection - it is a very slow procedure. And Paypal cannot take the money back if he had withdrawn it yet. He will just have a negative Paypal ballance and it may stay negative for a years (with blocked eBay account, of course). Of course, if buyers win the claims the Paypal will refund them (causing the seller's account to go negative). I have seen a friend's Paypal ballance with -7500$ (negative). And nobody goes to take him to the jail! I am absolutely not endorsing this (eBay scam). Last edited by enkov; 11-20-2010 at 08:08 AM. |

This actually makes sense, that's probably also one of the reasons for the long shipping times. (Easily withdraw as many cash as possible before the first buyers want a refund).
Really sad thing though, can't understand why the Wi-Fi Version is in Stock in US but not International, hard- and software should be the same. (Talking about Amazon of course) |

6 other multiple item auctions still running from the same seller. If each one is $50 and 199 were sold then the scammer is looking at $9950 per auction before any fees. Refund anybody that makes a fuss and the scammer is still looking at a huge profit.
