You’re probably thinking of Edge of Tomorrow, which was sometimes listed as Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow. The book it’s based on is All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. I remember reading the book and found it grating since the f-word was overused. I always wondered if the original book used the word that way, or if the translator took liberties. I have the Ridley book In The Eyes of Mr. Fury, but haven't read it yet.

I'd mainly heard of it because the Siouxsie and the Banshees side project, The Creatures did a song about it called Fury Eyes.

Incidentally, the novel available now is something like double the length of the original. Ridley reworked the entire thing since it's original 1988 publication.
