Canadian Urban Library Council trying to get a better deal on e-content
So the Canadian Urban Library Council is trying to start up a grassroots lobbying effort to get a better deal on e-content from the Big Five multinationals.
Lots of decent reading on the effort: The CBC article that alerted me to this. The Ottawa Public Library's page telling its users about the new initiative. The new EContentForLibraries page set up by the Canadian Urban Library Council What I find most interesting is the rate of growth of ebooks and digital audiobooks. They claim that usage went up 82% at six of the country's largest libraries over the last three years. |
