Logo Screen Question for Pocketbook 360

I have downloaded some images to my Pocketbook 360 to use as the power-off and boot logos. I have converted the images to 600X800 and 800X600 Bitmap (BMP) images in B&W and Grayscale, but each time I try to designate one of the images as a logo for my 360, I get an error message stating "Unsupported Bitmap file format." Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? I thought the logo images have to be 600X800 and/or 800X600 Bitmap images. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, but they need to be "indexed" as well, i.e. color-restricted bitmaps. 16 or even 256 shades of grey should work well.

I am a novice at image editing. What do you mean by "color restricted bitmaps." I just used basic image editing software to convert a color image to grayscale and b&w. I got the same error message for both the grayscale and b&w images. Thanks.
