Yes, Kindle Previewer doesn't generate a .kfx ebook. But the .kf8 looks great

Amazon actually discourage the use of background-images, except for fixed format books in their "Amazon Kindle Publishing Guidelines". Reason is understandable if you consider that users might change their setup to use different background and foreground colours that could potentially clash with background images.
