I'm so sad -- those books were one of the big reasons I bought an ebook reader; they were taking up so much space that I quit buying them.

I haven't bought any ebook copies yet but now I feel like going back and starting the series again and reading them all.

I had no idea Ms. Braun was quite that old. 97 is a ripe old age to reach. I've never read any of her books, but have heard of them.

Thank you, boxcorner, for sharing the sad news. I enjoyed Lilian Jackson Braun's cats and characters, and her depiction of small town life.

Maybe it's time to revisit The Cat Who . . . and see how it ended.

I have a bunch of the paperbacks lying around, but light mysteries are more fun on an ereader: I'll have to seek them out!

The general consensus, from what I've read, is that the series went markedly downhill for the last few books. I myself got bored with the series around book 20 or so. But the early ones are enjoyable.

I find that to be the case with most series--television, films, books, whatever. I really respect her for resisting the ghostwriting approach for as long as she did though.
