SONY PRS-700 "Date and Time" problems

I am in Australia so currently we are NOT in Daylight Savings mode.

I set the PRS-700 to the correct Date and Time.
I connect via the USB cable to my PC.
Disconnect.
Date and Time still OK (not surprising?)

I set the PRS-700 to the correct Date and Time.
I connect via the USB cable to my PC.
I start up the SONY eBook Library (PC software).
Immediately shut down SONY eBook Library.
Disconnect PRS-700 from USB cable.
Date and Time has been set one hour forward.

Anyone have any ideas?

You have probably already seen this but, if not, from the PRS-700 manual (Page 109):

Hint
  • When you connect the Reader to your computer with eBook Library started, the date and time of the Reader is automatically synchronized with your computer clock.
I can see no way of disabling this function in the manual.
Hope this is of help.

Thanks for the thought, Wetdogeared, but the problem is that indeed the date and time IS updated and it is then incorrect.

So I guess my problem is that the PRS-700 is "synchronised plus one hour".

Smells like a TimeZone or Daylight Saving problem doesn't it?

But, my PC has Daylight Saving off at the moment. I was hoping there might be a setting in the "eBook Library" PC software, but I can't find it.

It occurs to me that since the PRS-700 is only sold in the USA and Canada, it might have its Daylight Savings switch times hard-wired to the northern hemisphere!!!!!

Does anyone else south of the equator see the problem I am describing?

Just a question to narrow the problem down.

When you download or import a book to the eBook Library, is the time in the Date column the correct time or is it off by 1 hour?

WDE.

Off by TWO hours !!!!!!!!!!!!
For example, I have a book on my PC hard-drive at the moment with date/time stamp of:
10/06/2009 00.41.44

Even the SONY eBook Library shows it on the hard-drive as 10/06/2009 00.41.44.

I use SONY eBook Library to drag it to "Library", and then look under "Books".

It has a date/time stamp there of:
10/06/2009 02.41.43

Puzzling for sure.
Is the above highlighted the actual time when you imported the eBook where you live or is it off by 1, or now possibly 2, hours?

WDE.

is completely wrong

10/06/2009 00.41.44
is the time when the eBook actually hit the hard drive.

If it is 2 hours difference, it might be a time zone mismatch.

Assuming that you are using XP, double click the time on the task bar, which should open the "date and time properties". There are three tabs there, and the second should be "time zone". Does it match with your current time zone?
[in vista it should be similar, just more clicks to get to that screen]

In the PRS700, I did not see any time zone setting. But there might be in Sony software (in the form of "location" or something). I would also look check that to see if it matches.
