The hold at one of my libraries is >6 months. At the other, it was 8 weeks when this was first nominated. I have no idea what's on Disney+, they won't get a nickel of my money, but if it's there, that might explain it.

No worries for me. It has already come up again for me to borrow. And, even if it had not, I can get it to read on my iPad or audio immediately through non-Overdrive sources.

Mostly this works out for me; I’ve been stunned to see how rapidly I’ve gotten some high demand books. And I contribute to the churn, also; there’s been one audiobook that I’ve postponed I don’t know how many times now. It always tends to show up when I’m in the middle of something lengthy. At least I release it right away; those who take no action can add a lot of wait time.

But bringing it back around, for a book as old as Percy Jackson, I doubt it’s an issue.

As an aside, with NINE books I had on hold all becoming available today, I am very happy that I can delay borrowing!

Three more became available by the end of the day. Never had anything like this happen before.

I've never heard of so many books being available at/near the same time.

Seems like you can keep doing it. I've pushed some back several times already.

Usually when you get a bunch coming available all at once, it's because the library has realized a title is popular and bought several more copies. Or, it's because they've bought books you've recommended. For some libraries, I suspect July 1 is a new fiscal year, or at least a new quarter, so they either have to spend some money quickly towards the end of June, or they suddenly have fresh funds at the start of July.

That is what happened--additional copies and books I recommended.

My libraries have been on a buying spree ever since the lockdown started. Especially foreign language and children's books, books about pandemics, and books about racism and black history. Plus they've kept up with new releases. It's been a reading feast!
