iPad Pro 12.9" 1st vs 2nd gen.
Hi, I'm currently shopping around for a used iPad Pro. Does anyone happen to know if there is any difference in the screen (e.g. anti-glare coating, brightness, etc.) between the first and second generation iPad Pro 12.9" ?

You can compare different models on Apple.com.
https://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/ Edited to remove incorrect info. When looked at the various models, I had picked versions 1 and 3, instead of 1 and 2. Last edited by Deskisamess; 05-25-2020 at 09:16 PM. |

Thanks. Yeah, it looks like the 2nd gen. screen is brighter and has a wide gamut display.
I'm also interested in whether the antireflective coating is any different / better? But maybe only someone who has owned both would know that. |

I have a gen 2 that is still working, though the battery doesn't hold juice nearly as long, but I use my gen 4. I can tell a big difference between the gen 2 and gen 4. |

I agree with the confusion. I have a 2nd generation iPad. It is not compatible with the newer Apple Pencil.

IPad's generally don't have battery cases, so you have a choice between replacing the battery or buying a new iPad. How long the battery last tends to depend on how much you use the iPad per day. |

Air 2 Pro 9.7 Pro 10.5 Pro 12.9 (2nd gen) Don't really notice a difference in reflectiveness. Battery is a consumable. Official battery replacement for iPads cost $99 (although really, Apple just replaces your iPad with a refurb one instead of actually replacing the battery). That said, an iPad with degraded battery usually still has much longer battery life compared to a similarly aged iPhone. Last edited by ilovejedd; 05-26-2020 at 12:59 PM. |
