Audible UK for U.S. resident?
I have been listening to a book series by a British author, waiting patiently for the ninth book in the series to cross the pond, as all the previous ones had. Lo and behold, book 10 in the series has made it to the U.S., but inexplicably book 9 is not available to me (not as an audiobook, not even as an e-book). I thought of buying a CD version and having it shipped to me, but I can only find wildly overpriced copies.
So ... since Audible UK has the title available, is there a relatively simple way for me to get the audiobook? (If I were able to sign up for a free trial, I could even get it for nothing!) I've never tried to bypass geo restrictions and don't understand AT ALL how to do it. Can anyone help? |

I've never tried bypassing the audible geo restrictions. Since you have to authorize devices, that might be a bit difficult, unless you have multiple devices. It's not exactly simple to do. You also need an address in the UK.
Frankly, your best bet might be to get a UK resident to create an account, make the purchase and then authorize your device to that account. It works for me, I have a friend who lives in Wales. It's a little less stressful than trying to fool Amazon/Audible. |

In the past Audible would let you have a .com and a .co.uk account. Heck, the CS person told me to do it back in the day. I don't think they let that happen any more, and people like me are just grandfathered in. I know when they set up the .co.au site if you wanted to buy books there you had to transfer over your Audible account from one to the other. The same is true for Kindle customers - if you want to buy a Kindle book you have to transfer your entire library.
If you try it make sure you do it with a different e-mail, address, and credit card. Beyond that, no harm in trying. |

This is so annoying. I cannot imagine why this book in the series was skipped. |

I have an audible account in every store I can imagine and it works. The only thing is, if you change your address for one account it will be changed for all your audible accounts and even amazon if I remember well.

I messed up. I already had an account with Amazon UK because of previous merchandise orders, so I signed in to Audible UK with that account and got a 30-day trial membership with a free credit. However, when I went to use the credit, the book I wanted wasn't available anymore--only the same U.S. titles were listed.
I ended up being able to get a free book with that credit, so it wasn't a total waste of time and effort, but I still can't get that missing book in the series. Aaargh! |
