Device: Kindle Fire HD8 2018
Kindle Fire HD8 2018 not being recognized by Calibre

Here's the debug info. It didn't work in either of the newest calibre installs, it is being seen fine by Windows as the fire is there. But it won't appear in Calibre and I checked the things in the mains sticky and multiple reboots on device and computer.

Please help?

Also I rebooted device multiple times and it has 7gigs free of space it's brand new. I'm not sure why storage=none before it said storage=true and still wouldn't work.

Device: kobo forma, Kobo Libra, Huawei media Tab, fire HD10, PW3 HDX8.9,
does windows see it as a device with accessible storage ?
i.e. if you click the device icon in windows does it display internal storage and allow you to copy files to it
if not most likely it is connecting in wrong [ android] mode, look at fire settings for connection options

That device is reporting it has no storage available, which is why calibre refuses to connect to it.
This can usually be fixed by rebooting both the device and the computer. Also sometimes faulty/failing
SD cards cause it. If you have an SD card in the device, try removing it.

I just bought a kindle 8hd and it wasn't recognised by calibre. To solve this, I connected my kindle to the computer, opened calibre, highlighted the books I wanted to put onto my kindle, then I swiped down from the top of the kindle which opened a menu up, I selected from this small menu the option Tap for other usb options which opened another menu from which I selected the option to transfer files, this opened the send to device option in calibre and after selecting to alter from epub to mobi my books were put onto my kindle. I suspect I will have to do this every time, the menu doesn't seem to keep it's option but automatically reverts back to slow charging.
Hope this helps, I use windows 10 , I don't know if this would work for any other platforms

Yes you have to do that selection every time. It is a"feature" of the android version that fire os is based on
You may find it less hassle to install calibre companion and move the books wirelessly instead.

Install calibre companion ? Never heard of that, would I install onto the kindle itself or my computer?

It is an app in the Amazon app store. And it has a helpful sub forum here, where you can contact the developer.
There is a free trial version.
You installi it on the fire tablet and use it to access your calibre library wirelessly via your pc internet connection

I got brave and installed the demo version, managed to sort it out so it connected with the calibre on my computer, highlighted some books and the send to device option came up, didn't download any because I already had them on my kindle but will definitely download this way next time I need to put any on. Thank you so much for the suggestion. If I find it works great then I will probably buy the proper version which gives me unlimited downloads at one time as I do sometimes download a full series all at once.
