Talk like a pirate Day is next week
Next Saturday is International Talk like a Pirate Day. I'd like to write a front page post about pirate themed ebook we have here at MR. Would anyone like to help me with this by converting a Project Gutenberg title and uploading it here?
PG has a bookshelf of titles for you to choose from: http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Pirate...c._(Bookshelf) Last edited by Nate the great; 09-12-2009 at 03:24 PM. |

I'd be willing to do a book if someone wants to recommend a title folks would like to see. The ones I saw on the list that I recognized immediately are already in the MR library.

How about ,The Pirate's Pocket Book by Dion Clayton Calthrop? Humor, YA fiction?
EDIT: adding the excerpt of the 2,959 words (16 pages) book. Excerpt from http://manybooks.net/titles/calthrop2478324783.html Some said that he must be young or he could not be so wicked. So you see there were two opinions about him. There are always two opinions about a celebrated man. If you look at him you will see that he dressed to please himself. [Illustration: Supposed birthplace of Tomb family. Family of Bone still living in the cottage.] He wore a nice hat--but you have noticed that; and he had a roving eye. By which I do not mean his eye walked about like this, but that he looked around him a good deal. [Illustration] If you are thinking of becoming a Pirate--and there is plenty of room at the top of every profession--you will have to look about a good deal, because you will have enemies. [Illustration: He dreams of other worlds to conquer.] Tom Tomb--that was not his name, but it was the way he signed other people's cheques, and your father and mother will tell you that this is a very mean trick--lived partly on an island, and partly on board the Inky Murk. [Illustration] You will understand that I mean not with one foot on the island and one on the boat, but sometimes on one and sometimes on the other. [Illustration] Now T. T. never robbed the poor. I thought we didn't condone pirate ebooks.
Or was that, pirated ebooks? |

I have already converted a nice illustrated version of "Treasure Island"; surely the "ultimate" pirate book.

International Talk like a Pirate Day is a scam and if any of you fall for it, you'll be the worse off for it.
All it is is a day designed to sell a book. I've seen the website and it's a sham. SO don't fall for this or you'll be laughed at by thouse of us who are not falling for this sham/scam. |

Sounds like a challenge. How about a short story about Pirates, set in Paris and....ooh...ooh...my fiction sense is tingling... I will have a story by next Friday that encompasses all of these things, plus, cats
