Something strange is going on at Amazon. Bought Guardians of the West when this offer first appeared, and now it is no longer available to purchase AND the rest of the series cannot be purchased either.

So start a new series indeed, but you'll not be able to finish it!!!!

Guessing it's not Amazon and that something has happened higher up the foodchain as this title is no longer listed in this offer, but still annoying nonetheless!

John Scalzi's sequel to The Collapsing Empire, The Consuming Fire is coming out in the UK in October.

The Kindle edition of the paperback is available for pre-order, currently at £3.79

If you pre-order you get it for the lowest price it's available at between now and its release.

(NB There is a Kindle edition of the hardback, which releases two days before the paperback, but it's over £9!)

Which I find odd in and of itself. The UK has had all of Eddings' works in ebook format for years. It's the US rights that are messed up.

So for fun, I went browsing on kobo UK. Pretty much all of Eddings' stuff is on there (not sure if I saw The Redemption of Althalus or not) except The Malloreon. There are audiobooks available of The Malloreon, but the ebooks are gone. Weird.

Yes, noticed the situation at Kobo (UK) was the same. One of the Belgariad - Castle of Wizardy - is also not available, and to make it even stranger, that is the 4th in the series - 1 to 3 & 5 are all available, but not 4!

Based on reviews, this does appear to be highly derivative, but then again, some very good literature is such (even fanfic can be stellar), but this series probably isn't.

That doesn't mean that this is not a fun read, though, and I am picking it up. As they say, YMMV.
