How to turn off Sounds in Sigil
I use Windows 7 and would like to turn off the sounds Sigil uses.
i.e. The ding that is heard when I select "delete unused stylesheet classes" and a window message appears stating there are none to delete. My reason is that I often do a live recording using Audacity. These can take some time so I usually work in Sigil during the recording process. Having all these dings appearing spasmodically throughout spoils the recording. |

Sigil doesn't define any sounds, or suggest their usage (at least I don't think so). Qt probably just uses platform-specific warnings/errors that happen to come with their own system-defined sounds assigned to them. Probably the standard Windows Asterisk sound. Any Windows program that generates an "Asterisk" warning/msg will make that same sound. You could always set the sound for the Windows Asterisk event to None in your system's sound scheme (Control Panel).

Thank you Diap, That makes sense. I will have a look at the Windows Sounds.

I think it's actually a Qt Accessibility thing. It occurs whenever default Qt Messageboxes are utilized.

Certainly I have never heard a peep (or a ding) from Sigil.

Ever clicked on "Delete All Unused Stylesheet Classes" on Windows with your speakers turned on (with an unmodified system sound-scheme) when there were no unused stylesheet classes to delete?

Anyone who uses their computer for music applications should set a 'No Sounds' sound scheme. Maybe just leave the Startup Sound active as a speaker check.
They keep moving the settings, can't remember exactly where it was in Windows 7. |

Windows 10 allows the user to direct sounds from Apps to different dsound devices. eg system sounds to PC speakers, Music App to Blutooth (connected to Home Theater receiver)
