NYT: Macmillan Books Return to Amazon After Dispute

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/0...-to-amazoncom/

Quote:
Electronic and paper books from the publisher Macmillan were returning to Amazon.com Friday evening, ending a week-long public conflict as the parties negotiated over the future price of e-books.

Details of the resolution have not been made public, but the restoration of Macmillan books to Amazon’s site indicates a peaceful settlement was reached. “I am delighted to be back in business with Amazon,” John Sargent, chief executive of Macmillan, said in an e-mail message.

The ebooks haven't been added back yet -- at least Robert Jordan's books haven't.

I read somewhere - Teleread maybe? I've been all over the place today - that when Amazon pulled the books, it broke something internal to its systems. Apparently it's not as easy to put them back as it was to pull them ...

You are a malcontent, and must be assimilated into the greater good. The most holy government/corporation has spoke, and you will conform. We decide what is correct and ethical (legal/illegal is the new moral/immoral) If you want your media content, you will conform to our standards. Your neighbor has conformed, why don't you? Just do the "right" thing and assimilat!!!

Yeah, they haven't replaced my wishlist items, either. And no ebooks, yet.

They're back this morning, at $9.99 - 2 bucks more than the paperback version.

But not at $15.99 which, while you're still getting $crewed, you're not getting $crewed as deeply.
