PRS600 freezes showing epub book

I downloaded the following book (on my sd card):
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64227

and my 600 freezes on page 3. It seems that the reader has troubles showing some links that point to the end of the book. Is that a common problem? Should I just wait longer for the (> 2 min) reader to display the next page?

My guess (and only a guess) is perhaps there is a formatting problems with the book. It is not a very large book, and should progress way before 2 minutes. Perhaps the "links" are missing, or the file corrupt.....

Just for grins you might use Calibre and re-format it just to see if it makes a difference.

Probably a problem with the book. The Sony isn't very resilient to ePub coding errors.

It has trouble reading this:

Code:

Both this book and reading software needs to be fixed. I'll file a bug for the software, perhaps someone can take care of the book? ;-)

Thanks for the detailed analysis of the problem. Re-formating with calibre does not solve the problem.

Just an update: The problem is resolved. There is a new working version available. Thanks J.U.

Would this specific error have been caught by the free Epubcheck? It does need a Java runtime on your system. I am tempted to run that against any Epub book I download.

While you're about it, you should also know that ADE freezes on src="" as well as background-image: url()

Thanks! That's probably the same bug.
