Updated the first post to include a link for the latest release of Sigil (v0.8.5)
Little different this time. Built on a new VM with VS2013. Seems to work fine on my XP SP3 machine, but let me know if there are problems. |

Still, I probably will provide additional 32/64-bit packages that include the qt plugins necessary to play audio/video in Win7 and higher at some point. Qt5 QWebView video/audio support in XP and Vista is unfortunately flaky at best. Both seem to rely upon DirectShow instead of the later Windows Media Foundation backend. All video/audio support may or may not be affected by ANGLE vs OpenGL versions of Qt5 on Windows, as well. We'll see. I'm going to do some experimenting before I post anything. |

But what about all those poor WinXP 64-bit users?

Pretty strange, because I can't imagine there are many of them.
I thought it was extra ironic because Jon is a heavy believer in Moving On, even if new computers cost more than you can afford. |

How many were there? 10?
I never saw an XP x64 in the wild and I have relocated mucho desktops and servers (OK, I usually don't see the OS there ) here in the Valley. I did a whole lot of Rack and Stack/ desktop move jobs in the last 15 years. Not all running released OS or programs. |

It's like the chupacabra of OSs: everybody knows somebody who knows somebody who's seen one, but nobody's seen one themselves.

Precisely. So, the big question still remains: why did it even cross your mind for a second???

I have actually used the XP 64-bit version for a while. It was okay-ish. A big issue was the lack of drivers, so support from 3rd parties, and that there was no upgrade path to Vista/7/etc. It was the end of the line.

Updated the first post to include a link for the latest release of Sigil (v0.8.6)
Custom-compiled Qt this time to disable the openssl search/load attempt that causes problems when an older version of openssl is placed on the system path by other programs. Also included plugins that should allow multimedia to work. In addition to the legacy build, there is also a standard version (32- and 64-bit) that enables multimedia and disables ssl. XP 32-bit is also the end of the line in most cases.

Thanks again for the custom Windows and Linux builds.
I tested the Windows XP SP3 build and audio/video playback worked fine. However, there is a minor cosmetic issue: the blue progress indicator line continues on the right side of the audio/video control, which is most likely yet another Qt bug. Since the next generation of Sigil with epub3 support will require audio/video playback support under Windows, it might be helpful if you sent user_none and KevinH a list of the plugins that you included in the Windows builds, because they'll most likely need to include the same plugins in the Windows builds. Yeah, I saw the progress bar cosmetic issue. It only seems to affect the DirectShow engine (only used in the Legacy build, so it doesn't affect the other builds using the wmf backend). As far as which plugins were included, I let the new windeployqt tool make the decisions for me. windeployqt is going to be incorporated into the official build process so we should be good to go there. No more guessing about what needs to be included with the package.
