It's still a mystery that the international phonetics alphabet is not more in use unless it has to do with the size of the required keyboard...
You'll never know how to correctly pronounce the name Vercingétorix unless you are French. Even for Anglophones who have spent most of their lives with Francophones it's next to impossible. The syllables 'un', 'in', 'on' are physically difficult and some never master it. Vice versa, 'th' is as complicated for the French. |

My author friend committed suicide yesterday.
I think it was because he was suffering from "writer's block", but I'm not sure. He didn't leave a note. |

As for "th", the real heartbreaker must come when you discover that there are two pronunciations of "th." "Thine" and "thin" have a different "th", as do "this" and "thistle," just as two examples. |

Gravity has a way of bringing us all back down to Earth.

There's no such thing as gravity, the Earth sucks.

As we go into a new year, with a chance to review our values, just think on this. Money is no object.
Especially in that sentence. It's the subject. |

I was once told that the reason we can't produce certain sounds was due to the development of our facial muscles. Once the muscles were fully grown (or matured or trained and the like) it would be very difficult even impossible to speak a foreign language like a native born person. I forgot the age when that occurs maybe early teens?
Voice artists train for many many hours with a speech coach to be successful in the entertainment field. |
