Free (nook) The Faerie Path by Frewin Jones [YA Hidden Heritage Urban Portal Fantasy]
The Faerie Path by Frewin Jones, a pseudonym for prolific British YA fantasy author Allan Frewin Jones (ISFDB), is the 1st novel in his Faerie Path series of YA hidden heritage portal fantasy split between the modern mortal world of London and the secret world of Faerie as a young woman discovers that she is a centuries-lost princess, this installment setting up her return to court as her former fiancée finally locates her, only to find herself torn between her two worlds even as she must relearn her old life and face a threat to Faerie, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher HarperCollins' HarperTeen imprint.
This is B&N's featured Free Fridays selection for the weekend and seems to be exclusive to them. Incidentally, I advise you not to look up the synopses for future installments of the series, which contain significant spoilers for what would seem to be important plot twists in this one. That said, it looks like the obligatory love triangle subplot gets resolved pretty quickly and the rest of the series is about the princess finding her footing and having problem-solving adventures. Currently free @ B&N. Price-drop-check linkage for Amazon, Kobo & iTunes & Google Play, if you're feeling optimistic. Description Swept away into a court of magic and beauty, she discovers she is Tania, the lost princess of Faerie: the youngest daughter of Oberon and Titania. Since Tania's mysterious disappearance on the eve of her wedding five hundred years before, Faerie has been sunk in darkness and gloom. The courtly Lord Gabriel Drake, who Tania was once to marry, has found her and brought her back. With Tania's return, Faerie comes alive again as a land of winged children, glittering balls, and fantastic delights. But Tania can't forget Anita's world, or the boy she loved there. Torn between two loves and between two worlds, Tania slowly comes to discover why she disappeared so long ago. She possesses a singular magical ability and she must use it to stop a sinister plan that threatens the entire world of Faerie. |

I just discovered that I, too, am a centuries-lost princess.
Is that bad? --------------- Thanks for the info on this one! I'm on the fence on this one, though. |
