Question Сheck the uniqueness of the file by adding

Hello all.

When I'm adding book file into library, Calibre checks it by book name. If this is PDF file (name stored in file structure), the program tells, if this is copy of the same file (even then book has other file name). But if book in DJVU format and same file has another name, the program add it as new record into database and into file system.

Is it possible to check the uniqueness of the book file in another way (maybe by comparision of control sum, such as MD5)?

There have previously been discussions on identifying files by some sort of checksum. The verdict was that the checksum changes far too easily for it to be used as a uniqe identifier. So, no, there's no way to check. There's a duplicate detection plugin available, though.

Thanks. "Find Duplicates" is useful for me
