Make page 1 the last page number for pages left in a chapter #7549
https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/7549
I'm putting in a request to change the page numbering for pages left in a chapter. It would be good if page 1 was the last page instead of 0 and that the page numbers showed as the actual number of pages left. It does get annoying to constantly having to add 1 to the page numbers to get the actual count/ I hope other think this is a good idea. |

We've had extensive discussions about this in the past, so, no, unlikely to change anytime soon.
This basically boils down to the fact that a page number is the page you're *on*. Meaning it's not counted in a "page left" counter. Which in turns means that "left" means what's off-screen. So, yeah, on the last page, that's 0. This ties into a myriad of little things everywhere, so it's not something that can (nor should it be, quite frankly) changed lightly. How about adding an option to make it 1 or 0 and then everyone can have it how it's wanted?

Sorry for the stupid question: what makes a chapter under koreader?
In a new epub book, chapters are separated by <h2> tags. The total number of pages in this book is 365. The "Pages left in chapter" function still counts all the pages in the book: Current page: 72/365 Pages left in chapter: 293 Why? |

A ToC marker makes a chapter. If the book's ToC is wonky, there's an Alternate ToC setting in the [Document] tab in order to build one from the heading levels of your choice.

Rebuilding the whole epub file (from pure html files), the problem is solved! The original epub is wrong? |

While we can't say for sure without the document, I'd say chances are good that there's something wrong with the EPUB, yes. You could run it through epubcheck to see what it says.
As an example of things that can go wrong, see https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/6339 |
