No, unlike software that's installed, this includes Google cloud services. That's the difference. This isn't just like an old PC still running XP.

Google Cloud services isn't going to suddenly stop working for ICS devices. That's the part some seem to be missing. Everything they were doing on their ICS devices pre-deprecation, they will still be able to after. That will likely be the case for several years yet. The fact that there will be no further updates to the Google services on their devices will not prevent them from connecting to Google's services for some time yet.

Absolutely. "Deprecated" does not mean "withdrawn", it means "will not be updated in the future".

In my world, I've seen "deprecated" used as "we do not recommend use as it will be removed in a future release." That function was deprecated in release 2.7.15 and removed in release 2.9.31 as an example.

As for the meaning in other areas for deprecate? Abhor is my favourite.

Even if that were to happen at some point in the future, the point still stands that the act of marking an API set as "deprecated" does not mean that they instantly stop working.

Like Google+ is going to keep working? Or ... forget the name of the RSS reader Google killed. Those old Android phones are toast. Google services aren’t going to support them.
