Thunderbird uses mbox/maildir, depending on user settings. The db was a search index file.

Thunderbird's mail storage is a messy mess. The default for storing messages is mbox. Something akin to Maildir is an option but it's not actually Maildir (it's more like MH but it's not MH either). The mess comes in how Thunderbird stores metadata like read status and other flags.

Original Netscape Mail, and Thunderbird versions 1 and 2, stored metadata with the mbox files. And it worked just fine.

With Thunderbird version 3 -- and JWZ, who wrote much of the original Netscape code, ranted about this at length -- someone at Mozilla decided it would be a brilliant idea to move all of this metadata to a Mork database. Thunderbird has been a mess ever since. Mork itself has been removed from all Mozilla products but the "design" which segregates metadata and search into a standalone database remains.

High res textures are a killer. My go-to example is the PC version of Resonance of Fate. The base game is 16GB. The 4K texture pack is an additional ~70GB.

As for the horse armor, I guess iconic and/or memetic greed makes unabashed greed acceptable.

This is caused by Rena and her dogs Bailey and Kezune all being in the Bruiant Family faction, to which - oddly - Rimalus does not belong. . In addition, it also appears to be due to his unusually high Aggression, which appears to be a mistake.

Because it's kind of not a remaster per se.

Bethesda's Elder Scrolls and Fallout games run in their Creation Engine which is built on an extensively customized Gamebryo. Think of Creation Engine as similar to a Java virtual machine (JVM) (because it is): rather than running natively, the game "code" is interpreted by the virtual machine system. And just as JVMs can have many different source code bases but still run the same Java programs, so too could Creation Engine be re-implemented.

This is exactly what Bethesda did: they re-implemented the Oblivion Creation Engine in Unreal and then dropped in the game code and data verbatim or nearly so. The result is that what used to work, including many/most mods, should still work -- and what broke or glitched should still break or glitch in exactly the same ways.

Edit: with the caveat that mods which don't add or modify game assets should work. Mods which alter assets probably need to be rebuilt for the Unreal .pak format.
