Moving Calibre Portable to another drive

Hello,

I'm new in this forum and in Calibre.

I installed Calibre Portable in the default location (Windows C:\Users\Paul\). My C: drive is getting full. To make some room should I:

A) Use Windows Explorer to cut the entire C:\Users\Paul\Calibre Portable folder (containing file calibre-portable-exe and subfolders Calibre, Calibre Library, and Calibre Settings) and paste it into another drive or partition, or

B) Use Calibre's menu Calibre Library > Switch/create library ... ?

As far as I understand, option B only moves subfolder Calibre Library (i.e. my books collection) to the chose New Location, leaving file calibre-portable-exe and subfolders Calibre and Calibre Settings in C:\Users\Paul\Calibre Portable.

In that case, should I check command 1 or 3 below? They look like the same action to me.

1) "Use the previously existing library at the new location".
2) "Create an empty library at the new location"
3) "Move current library to new location"

Many thanks for any help.

Paul

1)Install a clean copy of Calibre Portable on the new drive.
2)replace the corresponding folders on the new drive with the ones from the old drive or simply use copy to Library (while using the OLD Library. can be while using the New Portable installation). if you don't have any custom settings/plugins you want to keep.

How is this any better than the OP's Option A? In fact, it seems to be significantly worse, because it involves three steps: Run the installer (may have to download it if you don't still have it), copy the library, then copy the plugins and settings. That's a lot of work compared to the 1-step Option A.

Although to be fair, I personally would use a modified Option A. Copy, not cut, everything over. Confirm that it's working right in the new location (you'll have to do this no matter what method you use to move everything over), then delete the original.

Absolutely
I've done it before on several occasions and never struck a problem. I might have just moved it sometimes (for me its F5 to copy and F6 to move). I use portables for testing ideas, plugins, etc.
