New wireless Kobo? Color?
This is apparently old news but I haven't seen it on this forum. At least, not linking the literati and Kobo.
From Sept 13 Canadian Business : http://www.canadianbusiness.com/mana...13_10009_10009 Kobo is responding with a new version of its e-reader. U.S. Federal Communications Commission filings show the company is working on a device with wireless capabilities, and, says CEO Michael Serbinis, "you have to expect there will be ongoing price declines." ... so is this theoretical Kobo really the literati? There are several devices coming that feature Kobo software. Borders is featuring the Cruz series of android devices. They are available for pre-order, now. I am not sure any of these though have the relationship to Kobo that the Kobo reader has.

Right. Apparently "Powered by Kobo" refers to the bookstore, not the eReader hardware.
from http://www.marketwatch.com/story/the...k=MW_news_stmp About "Powered by Kobo" "Powered by Kobo" is an eBook partner program from Kobo, a global eBook service backed by Indigo Books & Music, Borders Group, REDgroup Retail, and Cheung Kong Holdings. It provides a flexible solution for hardware manufacturers and retailers worldwide to launch an eReader or eBook store. "Powered by Kobo" partners have access to Kobo's catalogue of more than two million titles and applications for smartphones, netbooks, laptops, tablets and dedicated eReaders. Kobo's vision is to deliver any book on any device and is a strong voice in the eBook industry supporting open standards for eBooks and eReaders. |

Kobo recently wrote about the Literati on the company blog. The price will be $159 (or less). I'm not interested in an LCD reader, but it will be interested to see how well it does, what the full specs are, and if it's availability (which will apparently be widespread) at that price point attracts a whole lot more Kobo users.

Could be the new Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
It's just been formally announced as a direct competitor to the iPad and the factory eReading app will be powered by Kobo software. It's gonna have a 7-inch screen and weigh something like 380 grams... It could be a real big deal, and reach a key consumer niche before Apple has a chance to. (i.e. it's smaller, lighter, cheaper, yet equally powerful and backed by one of the big boys) /http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/02/s...y-tab-preview/ |

Kobo's newest blog entry is on the Sammy. They have many, many irons in the fire.

Now that looks a mighty fine tablet. Kudos for Kobo to partnering with Samsung in this venture. Hopefully it will provide a great and viable alternative to the iPAD.
