Series renaming (bug?)

Good morning!
I have noticed that renaming a series causes the loss of all the previously associated progressive numbers, which are recalculated automatically, forcing us to reinsert them all again.

Could it be possible to keep the numbers even if the new name of the series already exists and the two will be joined together?

Thank you very much.

Renaming series (assuming you are doing it via the Tag Browser) does preserve series numbers.

AND if you use the Manage Series PI (if the numbers are a single contiguous block)

Hello Govid,
thank you for the replay and Thanks mainly for your wonderful work!
Calibre is, in my opinion, the most beautiful software available.

As for the issue I reported, it has occurred renaming a series from the tag manager to make it the same name as another existing series.

Test yourself.

Thank you and good day

I just tested it myself. The four screen captures show that renaming the series "bahh" to the existing series "bah" did not change the series index of the book with "bahh".

EDIT: check the value of calibre's tweak "Auto increment series index (ID: series_index_auto_increment)". You probably want it to be set to no_change.
