BeBook Mini Firmware upgrades

A couple of questions:

1. From what I can gather, the BeBook Mini and Astak Pocket Pro have identical hardware. Can I flash my BBM with PP firmware?

2. Also I read somewhare (can't remember where) that it is impossible to brick a BBM with a bad FW upgrade. Is this true?

I like to mess about about with my gadgets and that means experimenting with different firmwares.

Yes. Also with LBook Hanlin V5 firmware.

What OpenInkPot Wiki says about the 6" V3:

So far as I know the V5 reflashing process is the same as the V3.

A related question.

I have a bebook mini on its way to me now. Is the latest firmware from bebook and Astak basically the same thing or do Astak have a more recent release? And is there an reason to use one rather than the other?

I've had mine over a week now. After initially switching on and trying a few ebooks in various formats I flashed mine to the latest BeBook f/w 91016. I did think about trying the Astak f/w, but I thought it best to stick with the BeBook f/w at least for a few months. I might try some other f/w if the BeBook doesn't do what I want or like.

There is apparently a couple of bugs that Astak claim to have found and fixed but I use the latest BeBook firmware and can't see any problems. If your installed firmware is not the latest then you will want to update as it cures a major problem with power usage.
