Radix by A. A. Attanasio (ISFDB, Wikipedia) is the Nebula Award-nominated 1st in his highly acclaimed Radix Tetrad (Wikipedia) of science fiction novels set in the far-future of an almost unimaginably altered Earth, this installment a sort of coming-of-age journey of self-discovery for a young man as he moves through various stages of increasingly elevated personal development, free courtesy of publisher Phoenix Pick Press, who are reprinting it from its 1981 William Morrow edition.

This is their featured Free Book of the Month for February. This has previously been offered free thrice, in 2011, 2012, and 2012 again, but it's always nice to see a quality freebie re-offered for those who missed it earlier.

Currently free throughout the month of February directly @ the publisher's webpage (DRM-free ePub & Mobi bundle available worldwide in exchange for your valid email address)

There's also a tie-in deal for the rest of the Tetrad for just $7.99 $6.50 this time around, though you may already have several of the other parts of it if you've been following the PPP freebies for a few years. Still, it's a pretty good deal if you don't have any of the rest of the books. ETA: and there's an additional deal for the quartet + 2 backlist standalone novels, originally out from Hodder & Stoughton in 1994 & 1997.

Phoenix Pick is the worst publish of eBooks there is. The code they make is AWFUL! Download the ePub & Mobi. Convert both to ePub. Check the converted ePub and see which is easier to fix. Then fix as needed. Then you can either read the ePub or convert to KF8.

I'm pretty sure I got all 4 for free over the years. Along with several of Attanasio's other books.

Haven't read any of them, of course. Although I nearly read Radix not too long ago.
