Android Backup?
There is a thread in the iOS section about backing up files to your computer from an iPad, and I just read this article:

Moving stuff from Android to Android has been easy for me.
Re-download apps from the market, and move my SD card from one device to the other. |

So, to answer your question, don't believe everything (anything?) the Apple fanboi blogs tell you about Android. |

Google really pushes cloud computing, coming from a BB platform this was a hard concept for me to get my head around. Once you sync your account all of the information is pulled from the cloud down to the Android app. Also the vast majority of Android phones have microSD cards which removes the need to backup files, just pull out the card and slap it into the PC or new phone. =X= |

I use Helium backup, it doesn't require phone rooted. Many android backup apps are free and don't require root. And transfer data from one phone to another phone, a phone transfer app can be helpful.

You do not need root to backup your apps and data. However having root makes things much easier.
Here is a guide to backup your apps+data. Normally without root you cannot backup your apps data. https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-root-t1420351 You can also use adb pull to copy the whole sdcard, search the net for some tutorial on it. |

If you have root then go for Titanium Backup, if you don't have root use Helium Backup
