I've not done this before, but I love Bloom County! What is the best way to read this? I have a Kobo Aura One for PDF/ePub. And an iPad - not sure what app to use to read these. Thanks!

I'd recommend the iPad. Tablets handle PDFs and CBZs better than an e-ink device. But at least Bloom County is mostly black and white and the books appear to be one strip per page, so if you decide to read on e-ink, it should still be a fine experience.

Moonshadow by J.M DeMattias and Jon J. Muth is on sale for $8.99 via both Amazon and ComiXology. This is the book that collects the entire 12 issue series.

Quote:
A romantic, unreliable narrator leads us through his interplanetary coming-of-age story, as an older Moonshadow recounts his strange mixed-species birth in outer space, his escape from a deep-space zoo, and his struggles to survive in a war-torn universe.

With gorgeous watercolor artwork by Jon J Muth, this influential, timeless "fairy tale for adults" also includes the Farewell Moonshadow illustrated novella that gives fans a look at Moon's life after his tumultuous, space-faring teens and misadventures with the miscreant Ira. Digitally restored and including all original cover work, this volume also includes illustrations by Kent Williams and George Pratt and lettering by Kevin Nowlan. A sci-fi fantasy that Ray Bradbury called, "Beautiful, original, haunting," and DeMatteis himself calls "Dickens' David Copperfield meets Siddhartha in space."

Halloween ComicFest 2019 is October 26

"What is Halloween ComicFest?" (June 12, 2019). HalloweenComicFest.com.
Quote:
EXCERPT:

Halloween ComicFest (HCF) is the comic book industry’s premiere fall event – a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away specially published comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops. HCF is the perfect event to experience comic shops as destinations for Halloween and horror-themed comic books, collectibles, and other merchandise! In other words, Halloween ComicFest is the Spooky Free Comic Book Day!

Every year, on the last Saturday in October, the industry comes together to give away free comics and encourage both curious, first-time comic book readers and seasoned comic book fans to flock to the best place in the comic book community: local comic shops.
[...]
In addition to passing out free comics on the last Saturday in October, many comic book shops make a whole day out of the event by hosting cosplay contests, creator signings, and photo opportunities with costumed characters, as well as giving out candy, prizes, and holding raffles throughout the day!

Yet another team-up between Dynamite and Humble Bundle

As I've bought a couple of Dynamite Bundles in the past, there's some duplication for me. But, there's enough in here that I don't have that the $18US is probably worth it.

There's definitely some good stuff in here, but wow, there's some dreck too. I'm not sure the world was crying out for Barbarella and Dejah Thoris to team up.

Marshal Law: The Deluxe Edition by Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill is on sale for $4.99 at Amazon US. This is a tremendous deal. The book is usually $35 and is still at that price at ComiXology.

Marshal Law was a popular, controversial comic in its day. I think the series suffered diminishing returns, but the original six part series (included in this collection) is worth the price of admission itself.

Quote:
In the spirit of JUDGE DREDD and the current hit series THE BOYS, MARSHAL LAW is a violent, satirical series about a futuristic law official charged with policing super-heroes gone rogue by any means necessary, all while fighting his own self-hatred for being the thing he hates most: a super-hero. Featuring art by Kevin O'Neill, illustrator of THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, the centerpiece of this massive volume is the original six-part tale in which Marshal Law hunts down the Sleepman, a serial killer who is somehow connected to the popular hero known as The Public Spirit.

Swamp Thing: The Bronze Age Vol. 1 (Swamp Thing (1972-1976)) is $4.99 at Amazon US. This is the first thirteen issues of the original run of Swamp Thing from the '70's.

Some of the stories are hokey, but Bernie Wrightson's artwork is fantastic. And the follow-up artist Nestor Redondo was no slouch. DC had some amazong artists working for them in the seventies.

Quote:
Deep in the bayous of Louisiana, far from civilization’s grasp, a shadowed creature seen only in fleeting glimpses roils the black waters…a twisted, vegetative mockery of a man…a Swamp Thing!

Created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, this shambling, muck-encrusted figure swiftly became one of DC’s most iconic characters of the Bronze Age of Comics, and his shocking stories have become classics in the gothic horror genre. Now, for the first time, all of these legendary early adventures are presented here in a comprehensive trade paperback edition.

Swamp Thing: The Bronze Age Vol. 1 collects the original short story “Swamp Thing” from The House of Secrets #92 and Swamp Thing #1-13, featuring all of Wein and Wrightson’s original run on the series and including art by Nestor Redondo, Michael Wm. Kaluta and Luis Dominguez.

Cross posting from the horror thread, since it fits both:

In 2013 Clive Barker wrote a 12 issue comic series called Next Testament.

The series is on sale at Amazon US at $0.99 per issue or $3.99 for each of the three collected books. Either way, the whole shebang would run you $12.

I read it a few years back and really enjoyed it. It's dark and can be gross, but it's Clive Barker. What do you expect? The art is very good too, but Clive Barker writing an original novel as a comic series is the real draw for me.

Quote:
The first all-new original comic series created and written by Clive Barker is here! Julian Demond, captain of industry, has left behind everything to begin a walkabout -- he believes he's on a mission from God. While in the wasteland, he comes across a figure unlike any other, who calls himself Wick.

Another Star Trek bundle from Humble. The $1 tier is an amazing value, something like 100 comics in there.

Cross-posting with the Horror & Supernatural Thread:

Collecting issues #1-6, Locke & Key Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez is currently $0.99 at Amazon US and Comixology. It's also available for free through Prime Reading.

https://www.amazon.com/Locke-Key-Vol...dp/B007KDHKZ8/
https://www.comixology.com/Locke-Key...al-comic/18409

Quote:
Written by Joe Hill and featuring artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez, the Eisner-nominated Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them... and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all!
Basis for the new Netflix series. Highly recommended!
