C.E Murphy's Old Races short story project

I found this over at C.E Murphy's blog:

Quote:
And as discussed late last year, I’m going to be doing an Old Races short story project throughout 2011 as a method of making sure I get stories written for a potential collection. This project will deliver 6 Old Races short stories to its patrons, starting in February. There is one caveat to this: if one of the stories gets out of control and decides to become a novella instead of a short story, I reserve the right to deliver 3 short stories and 1 novella instead of 6 shorts–it all ought to come out to about the same wordcount, either way. ETA: Oh! Right! Silly me forgot to say! This is a year-long project–you’ll be able to buy in up til midnight GMT on 31 December 2011, and will receive all the stories to date when you buy in.

Regular subscription: $15 gets you all 6 short stories in electronic format. If you were one of the “Year of Miracle” patrons, you are automatically upgraded to the Premiere subscription.

Premiere subscription: $30 gets you all 6 short stories in electronic format, and a signed print edition of the collection when it’s eventually published.
This is a really good deal. Considering that I paid 10 dollar for the novella she crowdfunded last year, and another 10 dollar for Year of Miracle.

Note: The short stories will most likely be in PDF.

$15 for a short story collection? Probably would not pay that in trade paperback (although that's about what it would sell for).

Maybe $6, if it were an author I really, really liked. But not up front (has no one learned from King's effort?).

Short stories and novellas are generally listing for no more than $2 (from big publishers), although a few keep insisting on trying to get $4 each, I suspect their sales are dismal.
