Pocket PC-Vade Mecum+Sunrise+Mobsync(sync to SD card) - awesome offline web browsing!

I posted this on another board, but I hope its helps someone here.

I had a palm for a long time and used a program called Plucker to download webpages and convert for offline viewing on the palm.

I then used isilo, which works well also, but is a pay software.

I finally found a freeware solution for the PPC:

I just recently found Vade- Mecum (http://vade-mecum.sourceforge.net/), which is a pocket pc plucker document reader.

I found Sunrise (http://laurens.typepad.com/), which converts webpages for viewing in Vade-Mecum on the PPC. This is a program similar to isilox. Sunrise allows you to convert the webpage and store on your computer and use the activesync files option to upload to the PPC.

Since the webpages can get big, I wanted to store on my SD card and not in main memory. I used mobsync (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=985) to sync a folder on my computer (where I store the sunrise plucker files)to the SD card on my PPC.

I set mobsync and sunrise to startup when I log in and sunrise automatically converts my webpages once per hour and mobsync checks for changes in the sync folders every 15 minutes.

Voila, great offline webpage viewing!

I've been doing the same thing for a while, but did not know about mobsync. Great idea, I'm going to try that now. I never used isilo, but of all of the offline web browsers, nothing is as flexible as Sunrise, that I've seen anyway.

You can do this "out of the box" with Palm's hotsync software on windows. I'm still using Sunrise (not XP) because I don't think I can live without the XSLT features that won't be added to XP, but under the "Output" tab you can add a destination that syncs with "username [SecureDigital (SD) Card]."
