ePub validation fails "role" tag

Using the IDPF Validator, my ePub failed with one error in content1.xhtml

Error while parsing file 'attribute "role" not allowed here; expected attribute "class", "dir", "id", "lang", "style", "title" or "xml:lang"

Here is the code:

<span role="heading" class="calibre1">

What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

So, nothing really. Specs are not very meaningful, and validators can help point out problem issues but often (generally?) don't and produce noise instead.

If you need help passing an EPUB through EpubCheck, ask in the EPUB subforum. It has nothing to do with calibre, and the calibre gurus are not the same people as the EpubCheck gurus.

The wrong thread was closed. This one should have been closed. It belongs in ePub as it is an ePub validation issue, not a conversion issue.
