Can't we all just get along?
We're ll here because we love reading, we love ebook readers and the freedom they give us to read anything at any time, and we love being around people who have similar ideas. All of us have different ideas about which formats are better than others, which readers are better than others, and which books/authors are better than others. There is nothing wrong with supporting your chosen reader, format, etc. It's Human nature to say "my whatsit is better than your whatsit" but lately it seems that a lot of folks are taking things to the extreme. I see more and more posts dedicated to bashing readers, formats, authors, or books.
Instead of bashing so much I think everyone should take a step back and remember that we are still a minority in a big market place and we are all hoping to expand everyone's horizons so that ebooks and ebook readers do not become the laser discs of tomorrow. I'm not saying don't argue the merits or downfalls of whatever, just keep in mind why it is that we are all here while you do it. Last edited by jabberwock_11; 12-19-2008 at 12:43 AM. |

Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all agreed about everything? Nothing wrong with a "frank exchange of views" provided it's done in a courteous manner.

Hey, I agree with you, dissent is a good thing, but there is a way to do it without flogging the other guy because he disagrees with you. Remember when people could disagree about things like politics and favorite baseball teams without making life long enemies? There is nothing wrong with disagreement, but there is something wrong with personal attacks and name calling when dealing with something as trivial as who makes a better ebook reader... |

I really don't think there's that much arguing on this board. Some debate, but it doesn't seem to escalate.
Man, you should go over to fark.com... |
